DS Directions Community Interest Company
Our service: firstname.lastname@example.org DS Directions will offer vulnerable adults the opportunity to take part in a range of work and training experiences that are differentiated and intensively supported. We intend to base ourselves in a small industrial type unit, and carry out unpaid work in the community. This service will provide opportunities for adults with learning needs to take a greater and more visible role within the community than the traditional model of centre based community support, to have a real positive impact within their community and to enhance their own skills and self-esteem. We seek to promote independence and pursue opportunities for participants to be effective contributors to their community. The purpose of this is multi-faceted: exploring a holistic approach to health and well-being in an employment setting. Our aims for our participants: • to be accessed to the experience of work and be valued for their contribution • to be involved in the routines, social interactions and the expectations that are present in a workplace • to build appropriate friendships and social networks, • to enhance the participants self-esteem and experiences, • to provide support for parents, participants, carers and appropriate professional bodies using our schools and statutory working experience. • to increase the "visibility" of adults with additional support needs in the community in a positive and contributory way and ultimately to improve our community. Our typical service user: Adult with additional support needs such that it is unlikely that they will be able to manage employment in an environment without appropriate support and care. However we recognised that they are more than capable of making a worthwhile and significant positive impact in the community if appropriately supported. Our target client group has a desire to be in work but lack core skills and abilities to manage this aspiration in an unsupported environment. The Client will have the requisite funding and benefits in place to support funding a place with DS Directions We would be open to participants from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
